MailChimp is the world’s largest marketing automation platform. More than 15 million people use MailChimp to design, send, and track email marketing campaigns. It helps millions of small businesses send various email campaigns and generate new leads every day.
Integrating MailChimp with Salesforce lets you view and manage MailChimp campaign activities and subscriber lists from Salesforce, and import Salesforce contacts to MailChimp. Create beautiful email templates, set up drip campaigns, run A/B tests and much more. You can use MailChimp for free if you have less than 2,000 subscribers and send up to 12,000 emails per month.
Connect Your Salesforce Account to Mailchimp
Before we start, please take a note to know before you connect the Salesforce integration.
- The Salesforce integration requires an Enterprise, Unlimited, Force.com, Developer, Performance, or Professional edition of Salesforce. If you use Professional edition, ask your Salesforce Account Executive to enable API access before you install the Salesforce integration.
- The integration only allows you to connect your Salesforce account with a single Mailchimp account.
- Your Mailchimp account will need to have Manager access or higher access to complete this integration.
- Try to install in Sandbox first. In this article I am installing in Developer edition Production.
Install the Salesforce and Mailchimp integration
First, we will need to install the Mailchimp app in our Salesforce account.

Note: Mailchimp accounts on a Premium plan can map up to 80 fields.
Map Fields -> Now match your Salesforce Fields to the correct MailChimp fields, Select the Mailchimp field type and enter the field type EXACTLY (Salesforce Lead Field and Salesforce Contact Field) as it appears in Mailchimp -> Click Save. As shown in the screenshot below.
Step 4 – Sync Settings

Click Sync Setting -> Choose Sync subscribers only (Keep Activity settings will sync subscriber activity such as campaign opens, clicks, and sends. The Sync Subscribers Only setting will sync audience and group data for subscribers.)
Step 5 – Turn on data sync and lead creation
Final step is to choose Data sync settings, turn on data sync to make sure that Mailchimp and Salesforce communicate and share data regularly. You also have the option to allow Mailchimp to create new leads in Salesforce.
